top 10 worst moments ever on TGIF
You can have the turning of the leaves, just give me new, fall TV. It’s truly like Christmas when your favorite shows return. The familiar faces are the new clothes; expected and comforting. New shows are the things your parents took a chance on; random CDs, toys and books that you’ll either love or forget.
For 2010, I’m happiest about my returning favorites. Not too many new shows sparked my interest enough to care with the exception of Mike & Molly on CBS. I have to rep for the big girls and guys.
Being a TV junkie, I went through the listings of premiere week and broke down each night into four categories.
1. My personal pick: The show I’ll be glued to no matter what else is on because I’m stubborn and set in my ways.
2. The show/shows that’ll kick ass in the rating even if I’m tuned in somewhere else.
3. Good luck: Shows I wish all the best to for a number of reasons.
4. WTF: New shows I can’t believe got the green light or shows that I can’t believe still exist.
Monday:
1. House. Six years after it premiered and I’m still head over heels in love with Hugh Laurie and his team. Also, House & Cuddy finally do the deed. Like Hugh himself, the show gets better with age so I have no doubt this season won’t disappoint. Plus Olivia Wilde is hot.
2. Not only my fav, but a badass in ratings, House will dominate along with TVs highest rated comedy, CBS’ Two and a Half Men.
3. Good luck to CBS’ Mike & Molly. It’s taking over The Big Bang Theory’s 9:30 spot and has an old school sitcom feel. Following Two & a Half Men, whose creators are one in the same, I have hope Mike & Molly can pull through.
4. Why is Dancing with the Stars still going? While entertaining…when The Situation and Bristol Palin are the stars, there’s something wrong. I’d rather watch the pups from Beverly Hills Chihuahua on the dance floor.
Tuesday:
1. Parenthood. It’s got people you loved from hits like Gilmore Girls, Coach and Punk’d? Well yeah, Dax Shepard’s actually got acting chops, who knew? Aside from the cast, Parenthood is a drama without the Dawson’s Creek element. It’s real life, as real as TV can get without being dull.
2. NCIS is the top rated show every season and I’d be stupid to guess that’d change. Another one, Glee. It’s cheesy as hell. The sassier High School Musical wins because it’s one of the few shows out there targeting cheese eaters. Lactose intolerant, beware.
3. FOX hasn’t had a successful live action comedy other than Glee in a hot minute. So I’m sending luck out to Raising Hope. It’s got a Malcolm in the Middle look so I hope it takes over where that show left off.
4. So you remember when One Tree Hill came out? For 20 somethings it was when we were like 14…yeah it’s going into its final season about 5 seasons too late. Unless Chad Michael Murray’s there quoting A Cinderella Story, I don’t care..
Wednesday:
1. Like my tweet said the day it premiered, if you fail to watch Modern Family, you deserve to have a wild boar eat your face for lack of TV taste. This show brought family comedy back to TV last season and hot off their Emmy win, there’s no sign of slowing down their hilarious ways.
2. Criminal Minds has a sweet transvestite in their premiere and Modern Family has buzz, so they’ll be the ones to beat.
3. I’ll continue to support The Middle because as the middle child, it feels that show gets no love. I hope to see them after the holidays.
4. Survivor has a hardcore fan base but how many more third world countries are there? And old vs. young? May as well be a race war next season.
Thursday:
1. The Big Bang Theory makes its big move to a spot that’s held classics like The Cosby Show and Friends…as a huge fan I’m excited CBS has the confidence to see through with the new locale. And why would I worry? TBBT is a show that had a comic-con fan base and grew to be loved by all who love comedy.
2. I’m putting my chips on The Office and 30 Rock to take the ratings for Thursday. It’s Steve Carell’s last stand and Tina Fey, well she has had diehards since that (over done) Palin impression. Another noteworthy for the night? CSI. Why? My embryo boyfriend, Justin Bieber’s on the premiere.
3. My Generation has interesting bus ads, but my hat’s off to ABC for putting it up against TBBT and 30 Rock.
4. Really? Vampire Diaries. It’s got a Degrassi alumni and Ian Someonetouchme, but it’s about vampires. When did Twitards take over the CW?
Friday:
1. I’m petitioning ABC bring back T.G.I.F. and the original shows…no need to waste our time just show Shawn Hunter and Co.
2. Do people watch primetime on Friday?
3. I feel bad for every Friday show. Good luck New Kid on the Block…
4. Still pissed about no T.G.I.F…
Saturday:
SNL?
Sunday:
1. Dexter’s on cable but still. Freaking Rita!
2. If I say Desperate Housewives can Gale Harold come back?
3. Dear Horatio, I will miss you on Mondays. Have fun & good luck on Sundays! K.I.T! xoxo Kendra
4. I love Family Guy, and think The Cleveland Show and American Dad have their moments…but how long are we supposed to pretend they’re three different shows?
